ENTREPRENEURIAL SUMMIT
- Santiago de Chile - May 2007 -
The Ecuadorian businessman, Alvaro Noboa, together with his wife Annabella Azín and his children, Daniel, Juan, Carla and Santiago, participated in the Latin American Entrepreneur's Summit that took place in the Hyatt Hotel in Santiago de Chile, from 16-19 May 2007.
The President of Chile, Michelle Bachelet, was the first to greet the Latin American businessmen, among them Alvaro Noboa, to whom she expressed her support for the social work that the New Humanity Crusade Foundation carries out on behalf of the most needy in Ecuador, given that its principal objective is to eliminate poverty in Latin America via private enterprise.
This summit is considered to be among the most important held in Latin America, with distinguished entrepreneurs from Mexico, Argentina, Venezuela, Brazil, Chile, Bolivia, Colombia, and the Dominican Republic participating, among others. Felipe Gonzalez, the former President of Spain, also took part in the event; Fernando Enrique Cardoso, former President of Brazil; Jorge Quiroga, former President of Bolivia, as well as former presidential candidates Sebastian Piñera of Chile, Marcelo Rosales of Venezuela, Alvaro Noboa of Ecuador and Hernan Buche, Chile's former Minister of Treasury and ex-presidential candidate.
Noboa is considered to be the most important man in Ecuador, not only for his personal career as one of the top businessmen of Ecuador, but also for his social works and, definitively, for his political work as the leader of the most important party in the country.
For the fifth time, Noboa was invited to the Fathers and Sons Meeting where the most important Latin American businessmen, together with their descendents - that is to say, his children - who are utterly involved in the businesses of their parents. Today more than ever, private enterprise on a global level is committed to social development efforts on a grand scale; a businessman with a social conscience who is involved in the problems of his country and who undoubtedly contributes to solutions of the same, that is to say, a participative work together with the community, is now an established figure. It is for this reason that this summit in Santiago de Chile was held.

With the meeting having begun on May 16 in the city of Santiago, together with host Alvaro Saieh (Chile), a welcome was given to the more than 150 entrepreneurs, who gathered together with their respective businesses, and emphasis was placed precisely on the importance of the role that businesses worldwide have to play in the role of social projection.
Among the topics that were handled the following should be emphasized: Political, Economic and Social Panorama of Latin America; Analysis of Latin American Economies; The Role of Communication Media in Contemporary Latin American Society; From the Benefit State to the Promoter State, of which Alvaro Noboa was one of the presenters; and Great Challenges of Latin America, among others.
Alvaro Noboa was interviewed by various Chilean communications media such as TV Chile and El Mercurio Newspaper, to whom he granted the opportunity to learn of his career and moreover his broad social efforts that have now, beyond doubt, extended beyond the country's borders.
During this summit, the need to work on behalf of the development of human capital in order to improve the quality of life, to be able to generate work, and to make credit accessible to the smallest who otherwise are shut out of the labor markets was underscored, that is to say, a concerted effort, precisely in order to combat poverty, that has as its fundamental basis the educational development in which the development of the people is founded.
The businessman's meeting concluded by exhorting and proposing businessmen to work on a plan which would benefit the most needy of Latin America with a commitment to realizing favorable results by 2010.
